X5 Hands Down

All you have to do is drive both back to back. The MDX drives like an Odyssey Minivan. That is not bad necessarily, but the X5 drives more like a sports sedan.

I drove the MDX, ML320 and X5 3.0i all on the same day and it was no comparison. ML drove horribly, and I own a MB already so I was ready to get another. I have an E430 Sport and the car drives great. The ML drives worse than the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L I am replacing. It was slow and ponderous.

The MDX drove fairly well and handled OK. It was quick, but felt very strained when pushed. The handling was crisp, but did not inspire sporty driving. It is very well equiped for th emoney and has excellent interior space and design.

The X5 3.0i drove almost as good as my E430. The handling was unbeliveable for an SUV (SAV). The car accelerated quickly and handling kept me wanting to push harder (I think I scared the salesman a few times). The interior is well appointed and comforatble, but a bit low on room. Also optioning up the car to a reasonable level puts you in the $50K range.

I will be picking up our new X5 3.0i on Saturday and feel overall it was the best choice for us. It has adequate interior space drives by far the best of the 3 and in the looks department it is a no brainer. The MDX and the ML both look like minivans, while the X5 looks like it was born to run.

I will be going to an unveiling on Friday of the new Volvo XC 90, which was another car we were considering, but in the end the long wait list made this choice impraticle. If anyone is interested I will follow up with impressions after I see it up close and drive it.

Choose the X5. Not only will you have better resale value, it's just all around a better made vehicle. Drives excellent and is more solid in crash test than any other SUV out there. Won the governments highest rating in their test. It is very professional and refined in every way. An MDX in nothing but a silly japanese car made up to look like an SUV. Not that you will be taking either of these vehicles off road, but the X5 is built more solid. Just drive the two and choose for yourself.

Here is a good review for you to read.

http://www.epinions.com/auto-review-...3A18EC51-prod4

I love my X5 4.4. I drove the MDX when it first came out and was impressed with the power, and the space. I didn't consider the X5 because I didn't want to spend that much money. I always thought it was the best looking SUV (SAV) on the road, so I finally decided to drive it. Once I did, I was hooked. X5 wins hands down!!!

I think it would be more of an equal comparison BMW X5 vs. Volvo XC90
(Volvo's new SUV, very nice)

Re: Fully Loaded X5 3.0i V. Fully Loaded MDX

Volvo XC90 is UNBELIEVABLY slow. Its 2.9L twin-turbo engine only puts out 268 horsepower for a car that weights abour 5600 pounds. It's no match for the X5. But, it does have the optional 3rd row seating, so in functionality (i don't even know if that is a word) it may be the better choice over the X5. IMO i still prefer the X5 after test driving both.

My vote goes to the X5 for the following reason. Handlesas well as a sport sedan at has speeds, solid build interior and exe design inside and outside. ITS JUST A BETTER SUV OF THE TWO. And theirs alot of X5 SPECIALISTS outthere if bhp and looks is your thing.TRUSH MDX and FLY wit da X5 ieee.
