Angry T/C won't run

1999 3.8 T/C. replaced engine with used one. Used the original wiring, coil pack, etc. The original engine started fine for weeks but not driveable After several attempts to start this used one it runs ragged and as long as you give it gas in a stationary position. The ac which was ok now is not cooling when I finally get it to run. The cruise light is on. CHecked continunity of wiring and plugs and coil pack ok. Tried to get a diagnostic code but nothing never shows. Have a 97 Voyager and codes pop right up. I have removed the battery to try and clear any codes but still nothing. Also notice the radiator fans not working but don't know if they were before. I assume that they were. I have checked all my wiring and hoses and man I am lost at this point.
When I try and start it after I release the igintion it acts like it wants to start when the ignition goes back. It make take several trys to start and sometimes not. Any thoughts and help appreciated.

Re: T/C won't run

Did you replace the crank position sensor with the one from the old engine? If not that may be your problem. The CPS on this engine is probably bad and is causing the no start condition.

I would also try to find the ECM/PCM from the donor van. It sounds like there may be some computer issues since you put the new engine in the van.

Can't remember if the CPS is from the original or the one I just put in. I think it is from the original since the old engine would start and run like a top for about 15 minutes before it started knocking. Bought this used one from a used parts dealer and the ECM/PCM to this engine will not be a option. Looking for a used one now. I was hoping that wouldn't be the problem but seems to look that way since I can't seem to get the diag codes manually. Going to disconnect the battery and try and clear everything out one more time and see if I can get a diag code.
Thanks

t/c won't run

Had van computer scanned. Shows that the crank shaft position sensor doesn't match the flywheel on new engine and has to be repositioned. I was told that had to be fixed in order to get a better scan because of everything going on.

I adjusted the sensor and van started right up and drove it around for about 15 min. Then took it out again and it stop dead on me within 30 minutes and had to have it towed. I adjusted it again and it started right up. I let it run for about 1 hour but when I tried to drive it, it died again. Anybody have any suggestions. Thanks

Re: T/C won't run

Replace the CPS with a new one. If it is coming out of adjustment that easily there is something wrong with it. Once you put a new one on you shouldn't have any more problems.
