Transmission fluid dipstick

Would anyone know where to find the transmission fluid dipstick on the 99 GASE? I've had the car for like 2 yrs, and im starting to think its low just because you can hear when the car changes gears, it knocks, and it sometimes jumps.

Re: Transmission fluid dipstick

There is no dipstick on our tranny's. GM wanted a "sealed transmission" so they didn't make any way for you to check the fluid level.

Re: Transmission fluid dipstick

Another fine engineering feat but the Know it alls at GM. Something as important as tranny fluid and no way to check it. These are the same guys that put a dipstick on a manual tranny (My 96)...I have to admit it is nice having a dipstick on the 5 speed but the synthetic fluid that is required is $$$ $11.00+ per quart.

Re: Transmission fluid dipstick

There is a fluid level check on the 99 GA's. The car must be up on a lift and on the back on the transmission is either an eye level check with a glass bubble type thing about an inch long, or it's has just a small bolt on the back and when unscrewed, if it's overfull it over flows and if nothing comes out it's probley low. Well thats what the guys at a place that changes oil say. I just replaced my fluid and filter and I went to them after adding the appropiate amout of fluid my self, and they said it was a quart low. So I'd say mine has an eyelet with readings on it.
I can tell when mine is low when I turn left, or go up or down steep drives the transmissiion slipss and when it catches it'll peaeal outt and the crowds go WILD! sorrry.carried away abit. Good Trans-missioning .
