I've had a sqwank noise coming from the rear since I bought my car 18months ago. I have had rear-brake service 6 times and the problem keeps returning. They have replaced drums and shoes and it has not fixed the problem. I have also had the brakes adjusted and the problem keeps returning.
My suspision is that it is not the brakes at all but something else. Has anyone else seen this?? Thanks in advance.....a very frustrated Sunfire owner!! |

Re: 2003 Sunfire Rear Brake Issue
There are possibly two items that can cause this problem. First, take a good can of silicone spray lubricant and spray the mounting bushings at all points. If there is a dry bushing then this will quiet the problem. If that does not work then have the wheel bearings changed. If the sound is more pronounced on one side then start there if that doesn't eliminate the problem the do the other side as well.
