A/C Evaporator and Heater Core Issues (Help please!)
My CRX has some issues. I noticed some pooling liquid on my passenger side floor board the other day. I suspected the heater core so, as a temporary fix, I bypassed it. I drove to Montgomery Alabama today (280 mile round trip) and saw pooling again. I stopped at a gas station to get some paper towels to soak some of the liquid up. I then got back on the road and it started pooling up again. This leads me to think that it may be the A/c evaporator. Is there anything I can do to test my theory? The Chilton manual is very vauge. I can't afford a Helms manual so, if anyone has step by step directions on how to get this figured out, I'd sure appreciate it.

Re: A/C Evaporator and Heater Core Issues (Help please!)
Well, as far as I know I don't beleive it's antifreeze. It seemed kinda dirty in color. Could have been liquid mixed with 16 years of dirt and dust??? My radiator was completely full when I bypassed my heater core and it still is full. I'm not sure is that means much since the heater core probably had it's own supply of liquid. I do know that I don't see any water dripping from under the car when the A/C is running. Could this be both the core and evaporator? Any other ideas?

Its probably going to be your evaporator sence its in the summer and I dont think you've been using your heater. You can allways taiste it, antifreeze taiste sweet.

Guess you're right. I may try the taste test. Either way, it looks like a lot of work to replace either unit.

sounds like you have a clogged drain line. the evap naturally sweats and has a drain line towards the bottom of the fire wall on the passenger side. if it gets clogged its gonna do that. corvettes are known to have this problem.

Would you mind benig more specific with the location of that drain line? I'd really like to check it first.

how about you just go look for a line coming out of the fire wall towards the bottom on the passenger side, or maybe you could search some for an exact location.

Re: A/C Evaporator and Heater Core Issues (Help please!)
In my sedan the drain line was just below the fuel filter on the passenger side, obviously closer to the bottom of the vehicle. It's not very big, kinda like a flimsy plastic hose, maybe like heatshrink tubing?

Under the dash. If you look just under the glove box, there is a black box with little metal clips holding the edges together. It's inside there.

Re: A/C Evaporator and Heater Core Issues (Help please!)
Found it. It appears the drain tube somehow got disconnected from the Evap box... I had to quit working on it for the night so, I'll have to test it tomorrow.
