Who would win.....?
I may get flamed for posting this, BUT I have a 92 Civic HB w/ a 98 GSR motor w/ i/h/e. My friend is buying a new Acura RSX Type S this September. Even though I have over 170hp and his RSX Type S will be bone stock w/ 200hp, I believe I would win b/c of the power:weight ratio. Lemme know what you think!

You'll definatly win if your driving skills are good ...not great but good. Your set up ..u should run 14.5 1/4 mile and rsx is what...15.0-15.6??

In general, the times we see and quote from the magazines aren't the best the car can do, its the best the magazine's driver can do. Not to diss magazine test drivers, but their skill level isnt up there with people who devote the majjority of their time to racing. That, and the fact that the times they get are (from what I know) from the driver's first encounter with the car. As we all know, to pull maximim power and potential out of your car, you have to get "acquainted" with it first. You wont be able to just jump in a car and drive it to its full potential on first try.
Even when it comes to the same car, they can be different. I drive my Accord (2000) and feel fine with it when it comes to first gear starts. On the occasions that I drive my mom's Accord (2001), I have uncoordinated starts cuz her clutch feels different than mine. After a few 1st gears, I'm basically fine. Just a lil input from a freshman who thinks he's learned something in college.

I've seen a couple of RSX Type S's around, but everytime I see them, they're always going in the opposite direction as me. Soon I will find one though, RSX owners: BEWARE!!!

that's not really true. Magazine test drivers do about 3-4 runs with the car and factory testers tell them good ways to launch. The thing that defines the time is the launch and shift points, you have to shift around the peak horsepower to get the best of that gear out of the way.
RSX Type S' stock run 14.9-15.0 flat, period. If that guy ran deep 14's, then he's definitely not stock.

Oh. Well, I stand corrected. Ive been wrong about things before. Usually the way they write their artices (to me) sounds like they had very limited time with the car.
Alright, I'll tell the truth. I based my opinion onwhat I saw onthe side of a special edition Frosted Flakes box.

LOL, don't worry. I learned how to do a B16 swap from the back of Donald Duck orange juice.... j/k
Actually, the car's Sports Compact Car gets for testing, they get to keep. The car's they're given limited time with are the prototypes, and they're not allowed to do acceleration tests, or skidpad tests with prototypes, that's the mistake Nissan made with the Se-R spec V... Because they let Sport Compact Car thrash on the six speed and it made the magazine editors skeptical because of the claimed 185 hp to the flywheel when it pulled 145 hp to the wheels... Where'd that 30 hp go?
