Shift Solenoid

My 2000 beetle just stopped shifting into high gear. My error message reads "Shift Solenoid electrical".

I have a repair manual, but as most of you know, I'm sure, they aren't extremely detailed!!

Can anyone tell me WHERE THE SHIFT SOLENOID IS LOCATED????????

I would be eteranlly grateful!!

Its above the transmission pan. you have to remove it.

Is it a 2.0, if so than it needs a new valve body (common failure)
