24 volt system

I really want to make my 02 LS into a dual battery 24 volt system and im wondering if anyone has ever done this to a car before. or if anyone knows of anything that doing this would affect. now I do have the full cluster so I have a vlot gauge and im almost positive that it will affect that gauge since the gauge itself only goes up to 18 volts. but im not sure if I can go buy some different voltage regulator or some other part to trick the gauge since I konw I wont be able to find a 24 volt gauge. but im not quite sure if I can just hook the second battery up to the first or if I have to fine the alternator wires that charge the battery and run another set to the second battery as well.

Back in the "old days" you could convert easier. I remember one guy use to jump start his old VW car using a 24v missile battery "he got a good deal on" in the service. Now days unless you really are an electronics whiz, I can think of many things that could fry if 24v is applied, such as Body Control Module, main computer, radio, ignition, starter, alternator, dash module, fans, fuel pump all of the lamps and headlights, transmission solenoids etc, etc etc. If you convert it to a dual battery, 12v system(batteries in parallel) that is different. You would mostly have to put in an alternator rated for appropriate charging current of 2 batteries, in addition ,maybe heavier wiring there. Probably not a good idea all around. I would find a different project.
