Womp, Womp, Womp sound

I'm getting this sound at 35mph and up along with a slight vibration it is the worst at 35-40 mph. I just bought this car as a certified used it is an '04 GT. I think i read on here that it is probably wheel bearings and i also read that it is like $500 a side to replace. My question is shouldn't this be covered under the factory warranty the car only has 24k miles on it. any ideas

Best thing to do is contact your local Pontiac dealer(s). The intial GM factory warranty is bumper to bumper meaning all defects/problems are covered. Since its a GM certified used car and you only have 24K miles, they should honor the warranty. Good luck!

could be struts, bearings, or a broken belt in a tire. Take it in, it should be covered. If it is a broken belt in a tire, and you just bought it that should be part of the certified inspection. You may have to buy a tire for the other side tho, as you have to run them in matched pairs or you will screw up your diff.

Re: Womp, Womp, Womp sound

by your description, it sounds like a bad tire, if it's a dull thud womp womp womp. Hubs will usually be a more metallic sound. Unless you hit a mean pothole, 24k is WAY too early to have a hub fail.

I would bet you will find that there is a bad tire on the vehicle. Probably a broken belt in the tire. As everyone else has said the certified warranty should cover any problems with the vehicle.

Re: Womp, Womp, Womp sound

just to be sure check your brake rotors if they are warped that may be a potential cause?!

Re: Womp, Womp, Womp sound

If you know what side its coming from, you could jack it up and rotate the tire. You should either be able to see a ridge or feel the ridge on the tread of the tire if ist a broken belt. Good luck.

Re: Womp, Womp, Womp sound

I have an appointment with the dealer on Monday so I'm gonna have them take a look at it. Other that this problem I really love this car. Athough switching between it and my F-250 takes some getting used to. I'll update you guys when the dealer finds out what the problem is.
