I have a 97 Blazer that will not start(turns over) and it will not shift from park. Fuel pump is not getting power all the way to the pump.
Here is the work that has been done Plugs (AC Delco) Gapped at .060 Wires Cap and Rotor Fuel Filter EGR Cleaned Trans fluid and filter Here is what has been checked so far. Fuel Pump Relay Fuses all engine electrical connections (sensors) codes (none) Any help that is provided will be greatly appreciated. Bravo |

Ignition switch/wire harness may be the problem.
Do you have dash gauges and lights with the ignition switch on? If not, replace the harness. Do a search here for "ignition switch", you'll find many responses. |

As to the no start problem - exactly what Mike said - no idiot lights in dash with key to ON or START - bad ignition switch.
On the no shift from PARK - this could also be the ignition switch or the Brake switch or the BTSI solenoid. The BTSI (brake transmission shift interlock) requires the ignition to ON and the BRAKE depressed before shifting from PARK. To bypass the BTSI on a console shift, lift the leather shift boot, carefully depress the white plastic tab on the passenger side of the shift lever while shifting from PARK to NEUTRAL (or any other gear). Note, too much pressure on the plastic tab will cause it to seperate from the solenoid requiring removal of the center console for re-assembly. |

According to the dealer.... The ECM was unplugged. When they got it running the plugs were fuel fouled. I am not a brilliant man, but If the ecm was unplugged would it have attempted to start or had anything? It had dash lights, and was attempting to start, but was not getting power to the fuel pump. Let me know what you guys think and thanks for your help.

As a side comment, The Ignition switch on these trucks are quite odd; you can have power to the starter, but no power to the ignition module, tranny switches, dash lights ; hence our references to the switch by your original post. |

If the ECM was unplugged, the engine would not start.

The dash (gauges and lights) were working. I didn't notice the fuel pump priming. When I didn't here the pump prime, i checked to make sure that the relay in the glove box was working. I did hear the relay kick on when I turned the ignition to the on position. I am aware that the ecm harness has a clip so that it doesn't come undone without intervention. That is why I was kinda stumped with them stating that. They are putting plugs in it and stated that they will make sure that it is running right. If it is running right after replacing the plugs they are stating it will be done. If it is not they are going to do more diagnostics to determine (if anything) what else may be wrong with it. Hopefully nothing else is wrong with it. The plugs that they are replacing were brand new and had not been run on yet.
