Stupidity breeds stupidity

So I keep this crappy bike at a friends house in the city so I can get around and not have to feed parking meters to park my car. I arrived today to find that it was missing. I asked my friend at the house if he knew where it went... turns out another friend stole it to ride to his house. But didn't I have the bike locked up so no suh thing would happen? Yes. But that didn't stop Charles Reddington going at the lock with a hacksaw.
I'm sure this all played out at about 1:00 PM in the morning or thereabouts, anyway supposedly it took him like six hours to ride home even though he only lives like 10 miles away.
So I called him and asked him about the bike. He said he'd leave it outside so I could take it back, and that he'd get me a new lock. When I get there, he's not home, and it turns out that I can't fit the bike in my car (I no longer possess hatchback powers) so I figure I can ride the bike to another friends house and have him take it back to the original house in their minivan... I forget that his house is like five/six hilly miles away, in fact six miles in the opposite direction of where I want the bike to go. For some reason this made sense to me then.
So I start my journey - right into headwinds so stiff I have to pedal to go downhill. No matter which direction I'm headed, the wind always changes direction to fight me. Once finally I catch a tail wind while going up hill - as though nature decided to smile it's favour upon me, only for it to change direction halfway up the hill.
As though the wind and dirt in the eyes wasn't enough already, it begins to rain.
By the way, the bike I was riding was an old three speed "english roadster" type bike - (so don't even begin to think "oh that's nothing this guy's a wimp") nor was I properly dressed for a cycling adventure
Once the brakes got wet, a 40ft stopping distance from like 2mph was the best I could achieve with maximum effort on the brake levers... that can be a problem when you're riding through rush hour traffic.
Anyway as though things hadn't gotten stupid enough already. It turns out nobody's home at the friends house. So now I have to ride back. Along the way I stop and wait at several bus stops, but no busses come. Then when I was about fifty feet from a bus stop, a bus flies up, a guy jumps out and the bus hurtles away all in like 2 f'n seconds before I have a chance to get on.

All said and done, I still don't have my bike back, and I don't feel any smarter.

Re: Stupidity breeds stupidity

That sucks! I Hate people who think they can take what they want.. If someone did that to me.. If I didnt beat the crap out of them first.... I would demand they return the bike with a new lock or I would threaten to call the police.. I hope you get your bike back!

.... Im glad my bike has an engine w/103hp.. No pedaling involved

Re: Stupidity breeds stupidity

That's the miracle of living on a spherical planet.
I wouldn't want to report it to the police, as it might take their time away from shooting crippled war veterans or retarded children - besides his own stupidity seems to be punishment enough from God.

Re: Stupidity breeds stupidity

I dont know who your calling stupid...he took your bike and you wasted a days effort trying to get it back with no avail. I dont think you should be pointing a finger at anyone..Your friend/thief at least didn't have to walk home, and got away with taking your bike..probably knowing you wouldn't call the police because they don't Meet up to your standards.

Re: Stupidity breeds stupidity

You're forgetting that he spent half an hour sawing through a lock, and then rode home in the middle of the night. taking an unreasonable ammount of time to do so (why? I still don't know) Whereas I just spent two and half frustrating hours achieving nothing.
