Engine Swap Question
On a 94 model Z28, the original LT1 engine is blown.
I am considering buying this car as a restore project. I know where there is a crate (complete) LS1 engine for a reasonable price. Can the LS1 engine be a direct "fit" replacement or will things such as wiring harness, prom, and ECM have to be changed to suit the new engine in this car? Also, Will the factory exhaust and emissions equipment & other drive train components work on this different engine without having to totally re-invent the whole car? Any other pitfalls you can think of that i will encounter? Thanks |

You would need an entire new computer. To match year and transmission of the LS1.

Re: Engine Swap Question
youd also need different engine mounts, cooling system parts, and an extensive list of other things.

Re: Engine Swap Question
Can't bore it that far. Aluminum is kinda weak when it comes to that.
That is why I went with an iron block for mine. Basicly, the motor I am putting in is an iron version of a stroked LS2. Couple differences in sensor location, and of course, completely forged internals.
