Question missing vacuum hose?

97 3.9L 2wd Where the hose from PCV valve hits the intake, directly under that is a place for another hose. Noticed it when I heard a hissing sound! Plugged it up, but not sure if it went to something else???? Has rough idling too. Figured that was from bad catalytic converter, because it has fallen apart inside! (very expensive part)
