4x4 problems please help
Hi everyone new to this board usud the fierro board a hell of a lot though.... heh guess my truck has been ok.
I will try to give as much information as i can. I have an 86 f150 short bed w/ 351windsor. Im not sure if this is how it started but its a pretty good bet. I put the truck in 4 low on pavement and hammered it well it was pretty impressive w/ 15x33x12.5 tires jumping the front wheels off the line untill it popped out of 4 low and made a grinding noise. I put it back in 2h and started to drive it and it made some kind of new noise it never made that sounded almost like a loose brake pad rubbing on the rotor but not that. well 2 days later was driving it and it just stopped pulling no new noises i checked tranny fluid and it was 2 quarts low added fluid still nothing. I dont know if u know what i mean but it sounded like i never locked my front hubs and put it in 4wheel that spinning noise that the hubs make. so i put it in 4low and it does move the vehicle in 4low but 2h and 4h it just makes that spinning noise like u put the vehicle in drive and left the transfer case in nuetral or didnt lock the front hubs. the spinning noise is either coming from the tranny or transfer case not sure...if anyone could point me in the right direction on what to check first and what to look for it would be a great help. (4low on pavement.... dumb aaa)
