Question Villager Thumper

Just purchased a 1997 Mercury Villager with 140,000ms...There's a 'thump' felt while driving...Brought it to a garage where transmission code 0745 came up...ALSO, 'Service Engine Light' is on....Can someone help me please, before I have to mortgage off the dog to pay for repairs...THANKS.

Re: Villager Thumper

Sounds like you have a tranny problem that may not be so bad. Check your fluid in the tranny and check any and all visable connections to the tranny for loose plugs even remove the ones you can and blow clean air into them with a compressor or a can of air sold at parts stores and electronic stores. If you have an Autozone near by have them read the code for you and tell you what it means then we can help you out a little more.

Was the thump during a gear shift? I just had a go round with a bad connector on the wiring harness shorting out the PCM. It was also causing false error codes. Definitely check for loose connections.
