Hey. I currently run a 96 caprice classic with a 350 corvette LT1 engine. I have on white walled tires but they get real dirty fast! I was wondering if it would be stupid to put on white lettered or if I should just go to normal black wall. Thanks. If you wanna see pics, leave an e-mail address. I love my beast!

Re: Tires for my beast
Lets see some pics: [email protected]... I personally love the whitewalls on my 84, but if they get too dirty too quick for yah, then just go plain black. White lettering will dirty up just as quick.

You have an 84, wow! Before this car I used to drive the hell out of a 81 Caprice Classic. It had a V-8 Diesel in it and had shag carpeting for the interior floor with really squishy seats. It was great but it started nickel and diming me so I bought the 96. Best purchase of my life! She really gets up and goes.

Yeah, I think I like the idea of blackwall tires. I just gotta decide what brand now! How much does a supercharger add to the horsepower on a LT1. Kinda wanted to put one on but didn't know if it would matter that much.

Re: Tires for my beast
it all depends on how big of a super charger you put on your lt1 mine is off a custom 454 and it added about 60 or 70 hp to my baby

Re: Tires for my beast
if you cant afford a big super charger don't waste the money cuase the small ones only add 15 to 25 hp

Speaking of gas mileage. My 96 seems like it eats it up like candy. I checked one time and I was only getting about 20 highway. Is that right? What's this i here about headers not only giving you more ponies but also better gas mileage. Sounded too good to be true until i saw the $500 price tag.

Yeah, I try my best to keep her clean and waxed. You should see me when it rains. I get pissed because then it's all water spotted.

Re: Tires for my beast
a header COULD give better mileage....if your engine runs more efficient it can work less to build up speed. Kind of like accel. to 60 mph, with a less efficient engine you have to push it 60% for a 0-60 of 8s, whereas a more efficient engine can do 8s with 40% effort. Atleast thats how i think it works..
