Stories of coincidence

While my wife to be and I were waiting in the check out line at the library I noticed a cart with miscellaneous books waiting for re-shelving. I reached down, picked one up and opened it to a random page. I immediately started reading about Mark and Laura which just happens to be our names! Needless to say we were both more than surprised.

Was this just random chance (hard to believe) or was there some other force involved? (even harder to believe)

Tell us your stories of coincidence.

im not a religious person, so i believe in probablility and chance... there are over 6 billion people on this planet, and mark and laura arent uncommon names... they just happened to be yours

anyways, a coincidence that im familiar of, is my friends dad was divorced and was now with a gf... his girlfriend also had a 18 year old daughter... they were both out on the town but two different places, on the ride home, i find out that the mother (or the guys gf) was hit by a car and she died on impact... it just so happened that the daughter was going home arround the same time, and also got hit in a car accident minutes later... she also died that night at the hospital... they both died on the same night from two different car accidents... at first i thought they were in the same car, but found out they werent... its pretty crazy and i feel bad for my friends dad

i was driving today and smelled oranges.... turned out i was in Orangeville.

my brother and myself were watching TV trying to think of a specific actors name... the first commercial that came on featured him.

was welding and got arc flashed pretty badly.. went outside to my car, turned on the radio, and the song playing was "blinded by the light".

Re: Stories of coincidence

I was pulling out of my neighborhood once and a car was making a left turn into the neighborhood, but did not signal, and the woman behind in a blue Jeep Cherokee did not notice until the last second, slammed on her brakes, skidded, and hit the guy turning left.

After I made sure everything was okay, I got back in my car, headed down the street, and saw an 04 or 05 blue Cherokee smashed into a tree.

Then later that night, at the parking lot of a Meijer store, I witnessed a blue Wrangler hit a little four door Saturn.

That was a pretty weird day.

Re: Stories of coincidence

My name's Lucky, I saw a man dressed in a lephrachaun costume in the hallways of my school once. Everyone thought it was quite weird actually, seeing that the costume didn't fit him at all. Heh, maybe we were all high.

Re: Stories of coincidence

When I used to play Halflife online I would meet people all the time that I would have some connection to.

The first time I met someone who lives 30 minutes away from me.

The second time I met someone who not only turned out to be from my old hometown but was in the same kindergarten class as me.

The third, and really weird time, was when someone I played with in a clan turned out to live about 45 minutes away from me. On the clan website they posted a picture of themself in the gallery where they were taking a local ferry. In the background, completely by chance, were my neighbours from my old hometown who were coming to visit. Weird.

Re: Stories of coincidence

Several years ago my wife and I did a road trip to Niagara Falls. We decided to return home through Canada. Along the way we noticed a provincial park named Rondeau. On a whim decided to stop for some nature hiking. As soon as we got there my wife called home just to check in and tell everyone where we were. It was then she was told that her grandmother had just passed away. Her grandmothers maiden name was Rondeau.

For me, i'll never forget 2 years ago i really liked this girl, krista, and i kep on seeing things that reminded me of her..

One morning, i wake up and a 'krista' is on the price is right (gameshow if you don't know).....ps, i dreamt of this girl i liked the night before...

THEN, 2 days later....i have another dream of this girl i like....wake up..go to work...get home...watch jeopardy while i'm eating dinner...there's a contestant named krista..NOT christa....KRISTA...

Next...i go into dunkin donuts THAT night.....i'm leaving with my coffee....a girl is on her cell phone talking to a girl named krista... She was like "hey krista whats up" as i was walking by..

No part of that story will ever be forgotten......crazy.

This one just happened to me, and it's pretty crazy. I don't even feel entirely right posting it for reasons that will soon become clear, but here goes...

Recently in the great city I live in, a sailboat was stolen and its owners were killed to expedite the theft. The crime was discovered when the owners' son called the police to report that his parents had been out of contact for an unusual span of time. The people that have been implicated as the perps in this crime are two people that I am loosely acquainted with, and have been at my house for a couple parties in the past. Disturbing enough by itself. I later told a friend of mine about this whole scenario, and they were about as freaked out by the whole thing as I was.

The kicker came shortly after our conversation when the same friend's sister meets and is asked out on a date by the guy who reported his parents missing in the same incident. The chances of all these things happening are so unbelievably remote I can't even begin to imagine how this occurred.

my friend met Mario Andretti at an automobile convention, go figure.

pick any number or word... keep it in your mind, and your bound to stumble upon it many times throughout the day... most of these stories hardly classify as coincidences. Just the scale of humanity and a lack of originality.
