How do i remove/install and alternator on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4 L? is it the same as the 3.4 L?

Its different. The alternator on the 2.4 is located on the front of the motor just above the ac compressor. Take the belt off, disconnect the battery, unplug the alternator, remove the bolts, and wiggle it around as you lift it towards the front of the car. Be careful of the radiator, you dont' want to bash it with the alternator. Look at the new alternator, it will show you where the bolts are.
