205 1.6 Gti Jr?

Hi I am new, and would like some help if possible?

I own a 1988 1.6 GTI 205 which needs a new engine.

A guy I know has complete car for sell which has had a rear end shunt, but still has good engine and gear box.

The guy has told me it is a special higher tune model??, the car has the emblem of JR on the side windows and rear window as well as on the front wings and rear hatch all the “JR’s” look as old as the rest of the car.

I have not been able to find any mention of the version of the 205 gti and am asking if anyone on this forum has before and knows the car spec.

Or is the guy talking BS and put these details on him self?
