need answers
I'm new to this site and have some questions I have a 1988 Camaro IROC Z 350 and need some answeres about the true exhaust system. I heard it wasn't possible but if I can't do it I would like to know waht I can do to make my IROC have a deeper louder tone. I have no headers and I have a Bassani exhaust sytem with dual outlets. Please help.

Re: need answers
flowmaster 80 series is gonna give you plenty of sound. Any mufler should be able to sell you one and weld it up for you. I just have a small problem with them because they drone at highway speed. but they are plenty loud and sound great!

Re: Re: need answers
The thing with bassani is that it sounds great idling and accelerating but it doesn't drone at high speeds it sounds even louder it doesn't give up sound. But the bad thing is that when I'm stopped at a light and I accelerate it switches to second and third gears to fast almost before I leave the intersection depends on how far I push the petal. If thier is a way to change the gears so they would last longer with out switching to fast let me know.

Re: need answers
My 700r4 does that too. Maybe with a shift kit it wont do it. But its weird because it almost seems like it up shifts and engages overdrive at the same time.

Re: need answers
a true dual is pretty agressive, and probly not worth the trouble, i have edelbrock TES headers and flowmaster american thunder 3in exhaust on my 89 and am perfectly happy with it. its damn loud and definatly boosted performance. if you run true duals, i suggest two 2in pipes, maybe as big as 2.5in if you have a highly modded engine.

A single 3" exhaust will flow MORE than a dual 2.25". There are also other benifits to a single large exhaust. |

Re: need answers
I have a 87 IROC of my own and put on it high flow edelbrock cat 3" pipe all the way back and a 80 series edeldrock muffer with 2.75" outlets to duel exhust tips. I also gutted the cat. I also had my stock exhust manifolds finshed, I put on Mr. Gasket exhust manifold gaskets and My camaro sounds sick. she purs through every gear. Also for your gear ratio problem i had my trany rebuild with shorted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears fourth being long and 5th being for upto 120 or higher, or overdrive at low speeds. It is the way to go.

i had a 85 IROC i had a 40series street muffler with dual outlets with a single 3 inch exhaust without any cat converter,it sounded wicked . it had thunder from down under.it sounded like it would leave the earth, but truthful i had a s-10 with 4.3 that would out performe it. the IROC WAS JUST A 305 , but it was a crowd pleaser.factory yellow paint t tops sound system and the nrumble of mean machine.it was a panty dropper
