Bad Rings? CAI?
I have 2 questions. first i have a b18a that i took out of a 91 integra i had it running good eventually but it was smokin pretty bad. when i got it there was water in the number 1 spark plug so i soaked it up and put new plugs in. then the screw came out of the rotor and it was firing like crap. So could the smoke have been from a/f ratio bein off really bad or a head gasket. the smoke was white and blue, mostly blue?
Also, if i do swap this motor into my 89 si hatch should i use a cai for the hatch or will it not fit under the hood... if it matters im using hcp mounts Thanks Ryan |

Re: Bad Rings? CAI?
Blue smoke is oil- it could be rings or valve seals. If it just does it when you start it then its valve seals, if it does it after you start it and keeps doing it then its rings. It could also very likely be a head gasket - expecially since you said it had water in it.

Re: Bad Rings? CAI?
90% of the time valve seals are the culprit.

Re: Bad Rings? CAI?
ive never rebuilt any motors just swapped them and worked on them and supposedly its a low mile engine saw receipt saying it has around 90,000 mi would it be ok to just replace rings and head gasket?

Re: Bad Rings? CAI?
but while your in there, you may as well rebuild, its not hard, just buy a helm's manual for that engine.

Re: Bad Rings? CAI?
I'd just hone it, put in new bearings, gaskets, rings and be done with it.
