Engine knock
Finally the engine went too on this pile. But it makes a weird knocking noise, like someone is putting an object in the fan or something. Hopefully if not the rod, I've heard of bolts coming loose in the starter, could this be, does anyone know why this would run perfect then just die and knock like h__ the next time you start it.

if it makes a knocking sound, that could be a rod bearing that's spun

We started it again and the engine knock stoped for about 5 seconds, and it's clanking sounds, we've taken the cover off the starter but can't see anything wrong or any bolts loose, any ideas.

if it's making a clanking sound now, that engine's toast. You probably have piston slap or spun rod bearing or even a shot main bearing.
