Re: IPMS Nats - results?

Wayne won first in Tuner with his 350Z. Eric (Mach1_2003)won third in factory stock with his 69 Camaro Conversion RS/SS, third in closed wheel with his GT40, and third in street machines with his 66 Nova. Matt (CADguy) one first in customs with his 360 Stradale Spider and third in tuners with his Carbon Fiber Lexus.

Congrats to all of them. Best of show was a KC-130.

I did not take one single picture the entire 4 days I was there. There was so much going on and soo much to see, stopping to take pics would've taken away time from somthing else fun. Like buying model kits and accessories.

There were so many cool things to look at and purchase, and all of the contest entrys were top notch.

I am really happy that I was fortunate enough to come home with a couple of awards. I was surprised that a Ferrari 360 took home 1st place honors in the custom class, but extremely happy.

I'm curious to see a list of all the winners. Many of the cars and other models were removed off of the table before I had a chance to see what entrys placed.

Thanks for the awesome photo album Zeljko!

Oh, it's not mine. Mike Hanson from Model Car List made photos, I just put link here.
US is still years away from my country :-)

Re: IPMS Nats - results?

Shopping there was awesome. Buying kits from HLJ at their prices without having to order them or pay shipping was sweet.......

And how much did that that ton of liquid resin cost you?

I spent too much $$ at HLJ and Best1Hobbies (not paying shipping was a treat, and the kit discounts at Best1Hobbies were pretty good), and like CADguy also enjoyed the show too much to be bothered to take the time to set up my tripod and take pics of the models. There were so many models on display it was impossible to look at them for long before getting worn out. I never did see all of them.

Re: IPMS Nats - results?

I did make it a point to walk every isle in the display area. At least this way the really amazing things, which was most of it, caught my eye and I could stop and look.

I still have mixed feelings on a judged contest though and the overall emphasis is definately military, which doesn't keep my interest for that long.

But hanging out with good friends was a lot of fun.

I really wish i could have made it. the worst part is i had just finished a big job and had the money to drive up but i wouldnt of had money to shop so i didnt go. i knew i would be crying not being able to afford all the badly needed rim sets and detail parts i would have wanted so i didnt even bother. Congratulations to all the members that took home prizes!

PS... if anybody has a lot of 18" and 19" rims they would like to sell.... please let me know.

Re: IPMS Nats - results?

Is there any truth to what I've been hearing about the best automotive entry, being stolen? I also heard parts were taken from other models.

If this is true.....not good.

It is certainly not good .

IPMS has hell to pay for this kind of thing happening. Every model was issued a claim ticket to prevent theft. Every modeler was expected to show the claim tickets for their models as they left. Obviously this was not done, due to a snafu in the awards banquet and the urge to get the doors open to let people pick up their models.

There are apparently security camera tapes that they'll try to see who took the model. It happened late after almost all the other models had already been picked up. It was rather surprising that this model had been left to sit out on it's own at that point, but that's not an excuse.

The entire show was riddled w/glitches. It was fun, but not as perfectly run as one would expect.

At our ACME show here in November, we have contingency plans if the model shows up. I can't imagine the thief being that bold/stupid, but who knows?
