2 questions intake & oil

1. Do those intakes on ebay for 15 dollars work any good? like just for my d15 for sound until i get a swap? and if not to good, what if i just put a better filter on it. or whats the best ebay intake for 40 dollars of less, not including shipping?

2. if im bout to change my oil, i only have 2 jack stands so the car front will only be up, will this affect the amount of oil that comes out? or does the car have to be level off of the ground?

thanks guys

Just when you are putting oil back in, make sure that your car is level when you check and see how much more oil you have to put in.

Ebay intakes have cheap filters which reduce air flow, change to K&N. The biggest difference between ebay junk & name brand is the name brands are CARB approved.

Re: 2 questions ontake & oil

I used two jacks 2 days ago to change my oil in the yard. Just put the oil collector under the oil pan, loosen the pan bolt (17mm or 11/16"), loosen oil cap, let it all drain out, remove and replace oil filter (put some oil on the gasket of the oil filter), replace oil pan bolt, lower car to level, fill with at least 3.5-4 qts. of oil...

Re: 2 questions ontake & oil

That's because you got a Haynes manual, buy a factory manual if want correct specs - www.helminc.com

CARB doesnt mean carburetor
CARB is California Air Research Boad certified. Some states will not allow you to pass emissions without a CARB approved aftermarket part. The filter don't make a difference, you don't even have to use one but that's a bad idea for every day driving.

one more thing, i just bought 5w-30 oil and the owners manual says this is good for fuel economy, but im not worried about that, the 10w-30 says its good for 20 deg.F - 100+ deg.F but the 5w-30 is for -20 and 100+, and the temperature here will never hit below 20. so should i get 10w-30 or is the 5w-30 fine?

Re: 2 questions ontake & oil

It really doesn't make much difference. I was using 10w40 but I don't want sludge so I use 10w30. But as soon as real oil matches syntec, I'm switching to that... $2.36 for Castrol GTX 10w30

Re: 2 questions ontake & oil

The first set of numbers(5w, 10w, etc.) indicates the viscosity when cold, if your revving high with a cold engine your At operating temps 5w-30 & 10w-30 do the same thing. In a warm climate 10w-30 will be just fine.
