Radio safe mode!!!!!

Ok I saw all the other posts on this subject, but they really don't answer my questions.

Problem radio says "SAFE", but I have the operating instructions sound system premium and oh yes there's a code and it's 4 digits....... BUTTTTT the code looks like this Code No. 0097, ok so I look at the instructions on how to put the code in.....

1. press the mode and scan buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display... CHECK

2. Use station buttons 1 to 4 to input the code number on your radio card...... CHECK

3. Use button 1 to input the first digit of the code number, button 2 to input the second digit and so on...... CHECK

***** for technical reasons the first digit can only be a 1 or left blank!!

WHAT????? but my first digit is a ZERO????!!!!

I tried every which way to input the code in, CAN ANYONE HELP???

You need a new radio.. that ones faulty.

The previous owner changed out the radio and wrote the code on the top of the unit. I found this out cause I was just going to take it out. (I wrote this # where the original one was in the booklet)
