honeycomb mas

...anywaz whats the purpose of the honeycomb in the MAS...i was jus wondering what happens if u damage it?...mine isnt realli damaged but while i was takin off my stock airbox lid...i kinda bent some of it off...not that bad...but will it have any affect on the car?...aint realli messed up...but a couple of bents...jus fix it by bending it back 2 its original status...

well they put them in cars for a reason,most cars theses day are equipd with one, they are there - to get the air in the right place. lot of people call them air straiteners, with outh that the engine can run rough not gauranteed it will, it also helps with the compression an the air/fuel mixture.

Well all of that was right, up to the part about helping compression and a/f mixture. Leave it in, Ive heard bad things about removing it.

A few "bolt on" mods, a couple "cut, smash, hammer, weld, etc" mods, and a couple "why the hell do I need this/what the hell is this" weight reductions.

for a answer to that, a couple weeks ago me and a few friends were working on my car and someone was like hey i heard it you remove these it helps...well it didnt, the cars idle jumps around like crazy...so that didnt help

Yeah, I agree 100% with talskinyguy. As far as fixing the bent fins. I did the same thing and just carefully used needle-nosed pliers to bend them back into place.

actually, as far as gutting the stock mas, it'll work fine IF and ONLY IF you know how to gut it properly. If you dont, then don't gut it because it'll mess up your tune. But for the most part, if you do gut it properly, you will need an a/f controller.
