Subaru 2001 WRC Great Britian Impreza, with surprise.

This is my first time actually working with kit decals, or decals at all for that matter. This is the Tamiya 2001 Impreza WRC Rally of Great Britian model. So far, I have painted the chasis, roll cage, and body Mica Blue. And have added all the exterior decals, excluding those required for the windows.

Going along with this kit is a little surprise for when I make the completion topic, but y'all will have to wait till then to find out what it is.

Anyways, pictures of the body with decals. No clear coat yet.

Re: Subaru 2001 WRC Great Britian Impreza, with surprise.

I just noticed how apparent the missalignment on the "Subaru" where it tore on me. I believe 4 of the decals were torn through the process. That's a pretty good considering this is my first try with decals.

Nice job.. I noticed you haven't done the window trim yet. Are you going to clear the decals, and then do the trim?

As for ripped decals... I do that, so don't worry about. I just line them up as best I can, and then apply a good amount of micro sol after they are dry to remove the join line. Works everytime for me.. The Subaru WRC decals are OK, but the door decals are pretty large, and can rip easy enough...

Yea, the large side decals are wrinkly around the stars, but whatever. I haven't cleared yet as I've said, and I will paint the window trim after I've cleared.

Re: Subaru 2001 WRC Great Britian Impreza, with surprise.

Looks better than anything I can muster lately.

In a Scale Auto Magazine review, they suggested Tamiya include a small swatch of decal in that yellow-greem color, to fix and tears or wrinkles. I think that's a great idea, we should start writing Tamiya and ask them to fill in some void space on the decal sheets with extra yellow.

hey! good job there! am just in the process of adding the last few tiny decals to the same model. and its my first model too (not just decals, first kit)! felt a bit 'in at the deep end' with the decals. mine split ove the rear wheel arches. but all else appears to have gone well. pics asap.

will follow ur progress, and hope to see some more models.! (just musterin up the energy to start my 80s project early. waiting on detail set and decals)

Yep, the rear arch is where one of mine ripped, but that was also my finger nails fault.

No updates really, but thursday will be a big day for painting and assembly since it is my first day off in 5 days.

Just a few more pictures. A few, as in 10. >_> The paint is Mica Blue, it's just that the camera's flash turns blue purple. The other 6 are of the surprise, and that's all I'm saying about it. You can say your ideas, but I won't say if you are right or not. I'm still getting the interior painted and decaled, as well as the driver and co-driver.
