Box in front of fuel tank
Hey folks just wondering what the box in front of the fuel tank is, it has 2 elec conections and 2 fuel conections as well as loks like a vent tube about 1" round. As well I'm removing the tank this wekend and was wondering the best way to de-pressureize the fuel system or do I have to. I remember puling a fuse and turning on the key to run the pump but have sisce forgoten

You can pull the pump fuse and run the car until it sputters out, or just push the center of the test port on the rear fuel rail. A little gas will squirt out so have a rag close by.
The "box" in the front of the fueltank is the evap canister. It "catches" fuel vapors and reclaims them for use as fuel. To drop the tank, you'll disconnect the fuel line from the evap canister (little metal clip holds it on) as well as the two fuel lines near the fuel filter. There is also a clamp for the filler tube that you will need to remove. Then just remove the three strap clamps and it drops straight down. There is one more vent tube that you can then easily disconnect from the tank (easier here then at the other end at the fuel filler end. |
