Santa Fe vs Sportage (Both V6)

Hi all

I'm currently tied between which of these vehicles are better. I've test driven both, and have found the Kia Sportage to be a nicer feeling vehicle (Better view, smoother, comfier), though I haven't had the chance to test drive an '05 Santa Fe.

There are points about each which really has me stuck. Hyundai are offering a 5 year, 150,000km warranty, whereas the Kia one is only 3 years and 100,000km. But the feel of vehicle, as I mentioned above, is nicer in the Kia.
However, I'd be able to get a demo model Kia for about $32,000AU as opposed to $35,000AU for a demo Hyundai.

I'd like to know the opinions of people who've owned these vehicles. How they seem on fuel, how well they hold together after a fair bit of driving (My work has me out in the country. Plenty of nice, rough roads to rattle apart a badly built vehicle), cost of servicing and such.

Thanks in advance for any and all help,
'Bug

If you're looking at a Sportage, may as well look at the Hyundai Tuscon instead of the Santa Fe, same car as Sportage, just a little nicer.

That's all the warranty they're offering? What a rip-off! Here in the States, both Kia and Hyundai are offering 10 year/100,000 mile (that's 161,000km) warranties on all their vehicles.

From what I've heard, the Sportage's road manners aren't terrific, but it's a blast off-road.

Congratulations, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever read. First of all, just because a country practices something that you don't agree with, doesn't mean that everyone in that country is equally enthusiastic about the practice. For all you know, everyone who works at Hyundai/Kia is very pro-democracy. Second of all, not all of Korea is communist; only the northern half is. Third of all, most of the cars aren't even built in Korea; they're built in North America. You should learn a little bit about history before you go running your mouth about a country that you don't understand jack shit about.
