You're bleeding them in the wrong order. Start with the wheels closest to the MC and work your way out.

1. Bleed the MC
2. Left Front
3. Right front
4. Left rear
5. Right rear

Adjust the shoes and then bleed again.

If you don't do it in order, you can push air fromt the front to the rear, which is what I suspect happened in your case.

Re: I need brake help

that was not the problem. i just replaced the front brake assembly with disk and opened all of the valves to let the fluid and air drip out not its better than ever. thanx anyways. i think the problem with the drums were the brake cylinders. later

This is the way we did it also when I was a VW dealership mechanic long, long ago.

Re: I need brake help

I have an issue with my brakes too.. i have a 75 superbeetle.. bought it in va..drove it to new york.. no brakes..my issue is this...i replaced the master cylinder with the same as was in it when i got it.. assuming it was correct...I bled and bled and bled..trying every bleeding sequencei could find.. i have a official vw repair book.. and the bleeding sequence is different from what u guys say here..sooooo confusing. and no matter how i bleed i get no pedal.. go straight to floor..hoping someone can set me straight... now i did learn this much with this brake master... there are 2 different ones for the superbeetle in 75..the difference is the metering in the MC...and so when i get the new one im hoping to get the right sequence to bleed these brakes...HELP.! -brett
