Temp guage

The temp guage quit working and the check eng. light is now on, on my 1996 E-250 w/ a 300 6 cyl. It has 167k on it now but still runs like a top. I replaced the sensor still no working guage. Does anyone know if the 2 are related? also ho can I check out wiring and guage.

As I recall, the temp guage and the EEC share the same sensor. You should look for a wioring problem in the harness near the sensor.
