My first first car was a Fox, so I know what it's like trying to find upgrades and performance parts for them. It may take a little bit of fabrication, but probably the most worthwhile thing from an A2 to go into your Fox would be a pair of Recaro bucket seats (out of a GTI or GLI). Some of the engine parts are interchangeable - for example, you can use the camshaft and valve lifters from any 8 valve A2. Valve lifters aren't all that expensive, so you'd be best off buying new ones - but the camshaft out of an 8 valve GTI or GLI would give you a mild performance gain. You can also use aftermarket performance camshafts that are made for A2 8 valve Golfs/Jettas. If your Fox is cis-e, then you can go as wild as you like with the camshaft. If your Fox is digifant (1991 and up, I think) then stick with a less aggressive camshaft.

Several people have had success using A2 16 valve cylinder heads on Foxes. It's easiest if your Fox is already cis-e - that lets you use the same fuel injection and management system with the 16 valve head. That may require a custom exhaust header, I'm not sure.

For exhaust upgrades, there are 2 fairly easy modifications you can make. First, is to find the little metal "donut" piece that seals the joint between the catalytic converter and the exhaust downpipe. These things cause a lot of restriction - good for torque, but bad for horsepower. You can grind out the inner diameter of the donut a *whole bunch*. There are some decent performance cat-back systems for Foxes available - try places like autotech, techtonics, and rapid parts. Also consider upgrading to a dual outlet exhaust manifold and dual inlet downpipe for better exhaust flow. Manifold/downpipe assemblies from the old Audi Foxes are a direct fit.

If you're willing to port-match your intake manifold, you can find throttle bodies from some A2s which have larger butterfly valves. That in conjunction with port-matching the inlet and outlets of the intake manifold will get you a mild gain.

My all-time favorite modification for foxes is the transmission. A lot of them came with 4 speed trannies, but a 5 speed out of a later Fox (or the earlier Fox GLS, quite rare) is a direct fit and a great improvement.
