Trying to figure out if it's just the heat here in Texas. Lately when I turn on my A/C the car seems to run heavy, or sluggishly. There is a lot of noise in general while the A/C is running, but when shut off there is just the normal engine sounds. The air is still cool and the car doesn't completely loose the ability to speed up when taking off at a red light.
Any suggestions on the source of the problem? If it is actually a problem at all? Buick Regal Custom Sedan 1996 V6 3.8L 142,000 miles |

Re: Car runs "heavy" when A/C is on
Just as a precaution you might want to get it checked out at like a midas or car-x type of place that will inspect it cheap. BUT in general A/C Pulls a load on any car, and just from my experence it seems worse on really hot days

Got80s,
Your description is vague and general. What kind of noise is the AC making? I.E. - High pitch, Low hum? Can you determine any gas mileage difference when running the AC? Does the transmission shift any different? Can you get a set of gauges and tell us the high and low side pressures? What is the discharge air temperature in the car? Dave My Way, is the Highway! |
