Sunfire Radio Display Hot
I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, and regardless if the radio is on or not, the display gets incredibly not, to a point where you cannot hold a finger on there for more than 5 seconds. What's the deal with this? I've never incountered a problem like this in my life. No CD, the radio isn't even playing and it still gets hot.
Anyone know what the problem is? |

You likely have a short circuit somewhere. Is the face itself hot, the display, the buttons or all of it? Check to see if it gets hot when the radio is on (whether playing or not) or completely off but still connected. If it gets hot with the completely off, you have an excessive current draw inside your radio. If not, check for any heat sources near the back of your radio. If it's just the display like you say, then sounds like you just have a bad display unit. You might have to replace the stereo (hopefully still under warranty?)

the display is what gets super hot, not the buttons.. and yes on or off.

I would go to a junkyard and pull the radio out there. It will be cheaper. The display module likely has a short in it.
