One way to check:
close your doors, hatch and hood, roll your windows down. Lock the doors with your key, and then wait about 30secs, then open the lock from inside the car and open the door. If the alarm start going off, then you have the factory keyless entry.

A lot of times when you buy a used car, the remotes and that will not come with because the previous owner lost/kept them. Mine did not come with a remote, but I knew that mine had the factory alarm with the Homelink package, so I went on ebay and bought a used remote for $10. Then all you need to do is reprogram the remote for your car.

What wuman said is accurate. If your car is equiped with the factory alarm, you should have keyless entry.

I see, I see... Could you tell me how hard it is to re-program a remote...? Also would the dealer be able to help me out?

the dealership will be happy to "help" you program your remote. As long as you give them money. You can certainly reprogram it yourself. Do it search for "key less entry" or something close on the site and you should find how to reprogram it. I don't mean to sound like an ass or anything, but this topic has been up a lot on the site and you should know how to search for it. Let me know if you have anymore problems.

Mine came with keyless entry but doesn't have an alarm. You should be able to go to the dealer and they should be able to tell you if your car is equiped with keyless entry by the VIN#.

Re: 1996 Spyder eclipse remote??!?!

i went a year without knowing about mine :P

anyhow... i felt your pain and did a quick search for ya. heres the instructions i used and they worked great for me.

To reprogram your keyless entry system for a new key fob:
1) Turn ignition to OFF.
2) Ground pin 1 of the Data Link Connector (black 16-pin connector under dash driver's side). Pin 4 of this connector is a ground, so placing a jumper wire between pins 1 & 4 will accomplish this. Grounding pin 1 tells the system you are getting ready to reprogram it.
3) Close all the doors.
4) Turn the key to ACC, then back to OFF. The power locks will lock/unlock. The system is now ready to be programmed.
5) Press a button on your key fob.
6) If you have two key fobs, press a button on the second fob within 1 minute of pressing a button on the first one. Both must be programmed at the same time. If you only have one remote, press a button on it 2 more times to signal that you only have one.
7) The doors will lock/unlock to signal that the codes were received.
8) Remove the connection between pins 1 & 4

Hope this helps.. good luck

Are you sure about that? My 97 Spyder came with a factory remote, but that alarm thing didnt happen. The car was locked with the remote, and when my top got ripped and the guy unlocked it from the inside, the alarm did not go off. My 98 NT Spyder's alarm would trip if it was unlocked from the inside while armed though (via key or remote), so I'm wondering if my system was malfunctioning then...

Probably, because i accidently unlocked mine from the inside when i came out of a building one day... That was a nice 10 minute drive back to the shop...i couldn't disarm it with the remote so i had to get it back there to unhook the battery.
