classic muscle v. gti

Just about a week ago I raced a Mid 90's gti in my 66 mustang that has a "pretty" healthy 302 in it. As I approached the light I did not expect a race but as soon as I heard him rev that little four banger which of course sounded like a dying cat I had to silence him with the sound of dual flowmaster american thunders. But this was not enough for him so I gave him a race but when the next intersection came I was at least 4 car lengths in front of him and he turned right into the shopping mall and I proceeded in surch for another kill.

Welcome to AF, there are members here who own GTI's though so try not to talk down on people's cars to much, we're all enthusiasts and try to give respect to everyone...unless that someone who owns the car is a dick... But thanks for joining our community.

Why does he have to be careful what he says about GTI's, so you guys don't get offended that he doesn't like the sound of a 4 cylinder? I don't either, to me there's nothing like the rumble of a V8, it's all personal preference.

He didn't say that GTI's are crappy cars, or that all their owners are jerks, he said that this particular one sounded like a dying cat, big freakin deal.

Good kill and welcome to AF!

Whats wrong with 1.8l's? CA18DET is nice. The Audi engine I saw in a rabbit out at the track is nice. BTW, it was trapping 107mph.....

Nice kill.

Re: classic muscle v. gti

whether you're a mustang driver that generalizes a 4-banger as slow/crappy or someone generalizing a mustang owner as an asshole, they're really no different from each others.

Good kill, be weary the forum is quite unbalanced in its support when it comes to domestics vs imports and people will sometimes take 10000932689037689017 times more offense over an import insult.

Welcome, a 66 mustang, nothing like rolling a good ole classic eh?

Re: classic muscle v. gti

My 66 stangs "healthy" 302 has a edelbrock performer intake, 650 cfm 4 barrel, comp cam, k&N filter charger, hedman headers, and a 9 inch rear. I would say it is Pretty healthy

Right then, lets all try not to get along and we'll all just go ahead and disrespect everyone's car. Good idea.

Re: classic muscle v. gti

the next intersection was only about 400 feet away I would say four car lengths at that distance was pretty good, this was not a stock mkII gti it had a exhaust it was lowered and had rims so for all I know it could have had an intake. I have not yet taken it to the track i just put the motor in about a month ago
