Re: 360 Turbo Tranny on a 77' Cherokee
I "think" you are talking about the "turbo 350" chev transmission..
That is the abreviated name given by chev. The full name was "turbo hydromatic"..... just a marketing name tag. It is a good general duty transmission and can be beefed up quite easily with an extra plate in the direct clutch and a shift kit. There was also a turbo 375 in the buick line that was the same transmission but with the extra clutch plates and a turbo 400 that used a different housing and parts for the larger engines. Hope that covers it for you. Some one else might have more to add................ JD |

Re: 360 Turbo Tranny on a 77' Cherokee
That vehicle should have a THM 400 transmission. Although its built by GM, the bolt pattern is unique to AMC engines.
Regular GM transmissions will not fit the Cherokee. They require the AMC bolt pattern version. |
