Is Too Much Orange Juice Bad for You..?

Hey guys, i love orange juice and usually have like 24oz+ a day.. It makes me feel like the hulk, but then i heard someone say that too much vitamin c is actually a bad thing..?

I usually have a 12oz glass in the morning then 2 or 3 of those small minute maid cartons during lunch, then another 12oz at night. I don't drink soda btw...just oj, and water...milk here and there.

PS, i am a good 35lbs overweight if that plays a role.

I didn't think it was possible for too many vitamins to actually be unhealthy. I heard that whatever our bodies don't need they get rid of through urine.

It does have alot of calories in it though. Drink water if you want to lose weight.

Vitamin C is one of the few vitamins that your body can't get rid of that way. So you can get too much of it, but I don't think 24oz of orange juice a day is going to do it. I'd be more worried about the sugar.

My advice is try to get fresh squeezed stuff (Without preservatives), that's much better for you than minute maid etc.

when you say orange juice, do you mean the stuff that you get from oranges yourself, the stuff you get that is labelled as pure fresh squeezed orange juice or the stuff that is labelled as orange juice but has added sugars and preservatives?

Drink more water (at room temperature).

I wouldn't be worried at all. I drink tons of orange juice. The only thing would be the amount of sugar. There are lots of people who promote and take grams of vit c a day.

no, youve got that mixed up, vitamin c is water soluable, fat soluable vitamins are the ones that your body doesnt get rid of in urine, vitamin c will not stay in your body for more than 24 hours or so, so you have to get it frequently.

Hmm, whatever. I think that anything that is labeled sugar and preservative free is probably good for you. The orange juice I drink is fresh from the grove, at least that's what Tropicana says. But seriously, I don't think something like that would be bad for you. Just not that Sunny D crap. That stuff is bad for you!

Well, check the calorie content on the label. I think that 24 oz of it would give you like 1/4 of your diet needs for calories. I don't have any OJ right now, so I will need someone to check that lol

Whoops, you're right. I could have sworn I heard that from some reputable source somewhere... sometime... or not...
