How do you replace the front wheel bearings on a 95 avenger? Is it hard? Can I do it myself?

Re: Front Wheel Bearing 95 avenger
If you typically do your own repairs you can do it. Maybe a gear puller was helpful, I don't remember. You'll get good at the procedure because all four wheel bearings will need to be replaced, sooner or later. Bearings were bad in that vintage. I've used the stock bearings from the dealership and the aftermarket too. The stock ones have a tighter fit to the rotor which is probably better but in the end I don't know if it really matters. Good luck. You can do it. Cost is aboout $150 per bearing.

One more thing. In case your not used to working on these things. The brake rotors will pop off real easy if you screw 6mm bolts into the threaded holes near the hub on the brake rotor. It works kind of like it's own gear puller. Don't make the mistake that I did on the first one that I replaced. You can't change out the bearing by itself. The bearing and the the hub are a single assembly instead of separate parts and that's why they are so expensive. [good luck/QUOTE] |
