power wires to trunk.

I'm trying to save some time and effort, so I'll ask first. has anyone ever ran wires from the battery (or general engine compartment) all the way back to the trunk in one wire. ive ran some inside the passenger compartment from the front to back, and some from the battery to the front of the passenger compartment, but not yet all the way from the battery to the trunk. all I need to nkow if anyone has done this if they happen to know how much wire it took, in feet. I need to run a power and ground all the way to the trunk and if im going spend all this money on thick wire I dont want to come up short to spend too much and have a lot of extra. thanks in advance.
