B16a Vtec question
I just got my B16a installed. I have had it in for about a week now. When I first got it the vtec kicked in hard and it was loud. Now i cant tell if vtec is engaging. My valves needed adjusting when i got the motor but i diddnt have to money so im waiting. It kinda seems like my valves are ticking louder the more i get on it. Could the valves have something to do with the vtec not engaging?

Re: B16a Vtec question
Check your oil level - if oil pressure is off VTEC won't engage. Your valves are probably loud because there's no oil.

Re: B16a Vtec question
Most Hondas and B16s seem to have especially loud valves.. At least they sound that way to me.
Things that need to be good for your VTEC to work: The car needs to be up to temp Oil pressure No check engine light Speedo has to work

Re: B16a Vtec question
Yes, VTEC will not work with the CEL on.

Re: B16a Vtec question
To my knowledge, thats with any OBD type, unless VTEC is rigged up... The ECU wont send the signal to the solenoid otherwise... If the engine has a problem, the ECU dosnt wanna overload the engine and just make it worse... Its a safety feature...
