replace OR clean the egr valve ????

hello everyone,,,i've read a few posts on cleaning the egr valve.is this just a temporary fix ???? or is new replacement the way to go ??? i've priced them,ranging from $150.00 to $200.00 dollars.whats your opinions.try and clean them or just replace.....thanks

The first time I had mine cleaned it lasted about 6 months. The second time was two years ago and still going strong.

did you just spray it with carb and choke cleaner ????
