alternator

after i get my headers i will want to intall a high amp alt. due to the drain i get from my large power amp for my subs. i will probably go w/ a 140 amp power master from summit unless u guys know of a better replacement for same or less $ thats around 100-105 at idle and about 140 or more cruising. my question is will i need to buy a special braket and new belt for this or will any major mods need to be made to get this to work other than a bigger power wire for it?

Why dont you just get a power converter? Seems cheaper and what you really should be looking for.

uhh, he's not trying to run ac type electronics in his car, he's trying to stop the huge power drain that his amp causes everytime the bass hits.

anyway, you don't need a higher amp alternator unless you plan on running a second battery as well. All you should need is a capacitor.

Re: alternator

well if that's the case, then you want to get the 2 battery setup w/ the higher output alternator, i've seen these alternators on ebay so check there first. I know my buddy got his alternator thru the shop that installed his setup.

Re: alternator

yeah im hopin to get away w/ just a high amp alternator and the single battery set up but the single batter will either be a optima or a stinger deep cell so after these a$$ holes get the rear end right...long story...ill be able to get started on this right after headers go on.
