92 maxima ve5, strange starting problem

1992 maxima se ve30de 5spd
short story,
removed engine to fix broken exh mani studs
to fix leaks
and to clean up general engine bay

put engine in and now it wont run.
i removed egr, charcoal canister, and factory pcv system
the pcv is routed into a catch can and the charcoal canister is removed correctly.

my only question is, has anyone heard of such a problem where to actually have the car run on its own without spraying carb clean into the intake tract, you need to almost completely block the mass airflow sensor? and when i say block, it will only run with all but a .5" hole to breathe through....

also, could this have anything to do with the egr being deleted?

the problem could be very little, or very large...
but i think its just one of those stupid little things....

thanks for entertaining my first post.

Too much air -or- toolittle gas:

- If its air leak, no way but take intake out and renew gaskets.
- If its Fuel pressure; bad filter, pump, or regulator...
