yet another A/C problem (with good reason)
i just put in a new fan belt for the jeep and everything seems to be working out (no more chirping). heres the kicker; everytime i turn on the ac and accelerate, i get the worst sound ever (like my jeep is dying). But after checking it out, i cant find anything wrong. no belt problems, smoke, etc. im not using the ac now and dont feel like taking it in to pay $80 just to have someone tell me what it is. anyone thoughts?

Is that a serpentine belt or a V belt??? Can't recall which that year used but it sounds like a belt tension problem.
Check the tension and if a serpentine belt, check the tensioner too.... could be a bad bearing. JD |

Re: yet another A/C problem (with good reason)
I have a 1988 Jeep and I had serpintine belt noises too.
I changed out the belt and overtightened it. It damaged the idler pully and had to change that out too. I obtained another one at the local junk yard, re-adjusted the belt and have no problems. Check the to see how tight you have the belt. |
