ANOTHER AC problem!
Hello,
On my 95 Blazer s-10 4.3 the AC clutch started acting up. It will not cycle back on after cutting out unless the engine is brought up to 2300 RPM. It will then cycle fine but every five minutes or so it will repeat the problem. I replaced the low-pressure switch on the receiver-dryer, the system is fully charged and cools properly before the clutch stops cycling as it should. Would one of the three relays up on the firewall be causing that? Is there a way to properly check them or is it a “replace and see what happens” deal? Thank you, LS |

The gap on the clutch plate grew too wide. Taking the end plate off and removing the required amount of shims (washers) lessens the gap or clearance |

Re: ANOTHER AC problem!
Also check the amount of refrigerant.
Low refrigerant will also cause this.

[Edit] Also, what is the correct 'gap'.. if yours was too wide.. what was it.. and what should it have been (so I can compare to mine) [/Edit] This same thing happened to my blazer about 4 years ago.. and eventually the A/C just gave up and never cooled anymore... and about 3 months after that.. the pully on the compressor just decided to lock up.. burning up my belt... A/C shop I took it to that replaced the compressor said that the clutch isn't seperate fromthe compressor.. so I guess I just assumed it couldn't be 'serviced' seperately. -Tim |
