gt to se

how does the gt compare to the se, because sites i go to for parts will say got the gt and or gtp, but no se, will the gt parts work on a se??

I'll just cover the basic differences and let the actual mechanics on here get into specifics. First of all, the SE has a 3.1L V6 standard, 3.8L V6 optional, whereas the GT has the 3.8L standard. Also, an SE has single exaust, whereas a GT has dual exhaust, although its not a true dual exhaust system. The last major thing i can think of is that the GT was available as a coupe up until (2001?) can't remember the year. As for parts working, if you have an SE with the 3.8, i think any performance parts that are for the GT engine would work. Oh, and the most obvious difference is that on the SE, the front looked somewhat different, with the grilles being on the underside of the point of the front, I dunno what year they changed that though...

Glad you caught that, what i said was wrong. I w/ the SE/GT comparison, i remembered when someone wanted to give their SE dual exhaust. The only kit available for an SE doesnt make it a true dual exhaust, just adds another pipe. Somehow that got jumbled in my thinking and that came out, thanx for keepin me in check.

SE's have a single muffler, where the GT's/GTP's have less restrictive dual outlet mufflers. There are many trim differences, including the afformentioned grill/front facia, ground effects, rear spoiler, and SE's had steel 15" wheels and hub caps, where the GT/GTP's had a myriad of aluminum/chrome 16" wheels. Mechanically, most parts are the same, as long as the engine option is the same.

A few styling things I looked up:
-Beginning in 1999, all GT's had rear spoilers standard
-In 2001, the SE's recieved a standard rear spoiler, as well as the grills being moved to the same place as on the GT's.
-Finally, 2003 was the year they dropped the coupe, since I couldn't remember that before.

good cause im getting a turbo kit for my se, which has the 3.8, so i figure that since the kit is for the 3800 series gt, it will fit the same, if not only minor mods for it to fit

Where you gettin the turbo kit from? The only one I've found is the one at pfyc.com, n thats $3000. Thats not horrible, but you must have gotten some money in a hurry, if you have an SE n now can afford a turbo.
