Radiator Fans not working

Hey all, saw a few similiar posts but still have some questions as most responses were for a 3.1 liter.

My GF has a 98 3.8 liter lumina and last weekend (hella hot) she had the AC on and well the car began to run hot. I have noticed the other day while doing some tests that the fans do not come on at all. The fans are new(replaced them myself last year). Does the 3.8 liter share the same characteristics as the 3.1 where the PCM controls the fans or does the temp sender switch close the circuit and initiate the fan operation.

Weather is going to be very hot the next few weeks....and it is no fun driving with the heat on through construction zones.

Coolant is clean(althogh it needs a flush soon), no collant in the oil, and the coolant level has remained normal for the past year.

Let me know what I might look into on this bugger. The sooner I get this taken care of, the sooner I can get back to building my FJ40 landcruiser.

Re: Radiator Fans not working

Check the relays, check the actual sensor reading, and above all, check the fans themselves. Apply 12v to each one to ensure it does indeed turn on.

Just because its new doesn't mean its good.
