Popping the hood without a hood cable?
Hey, I went to pop my hood this morning and some how my hood cable became disattached. It's attached in the car, but it's not pulling the hood to pop it. I was wondering how I can get my hood open now? I have a 95 sc2.
Also, my car's making a wierd ticking noise from the left wheel, anyone know what that could be? |

Re: Popping the hood without a hood cable?
i just checked and i don't see anyway to reach the latch from outside the car, its pretty well shielded. is it possible the latch is just sticking? for awhile on my buick it was stuck to the point i had to pull open the hood while a second person was in the car pulling the release. also there are quite a few cars in the parking lot at school with broken hood cables(or as i call it the UTI junkyard) some of the guys can hit the hood in just the right spot to pop it open.

Forced Entry...
In the fire dept. when we need to access an engine compartment we use a tool called a haligan. The forked end is inserted into the grill of the carand hooked onto the cable.
Once the cable is hooked the tool is twisted, pulling the cable and poping the hood. Usually causes quite a bit of damage though, but if there is a way to get a forked tool into the grill w/o causing damage and hooking the cable, then you may be able to use this method. -Ryan |

Re: Popping the hood without a hood cable?
trust me, i don't think you will have room, not with how low the grill is and how sheilded the latch is. best i can say is call up a saturn dealership and ask them if they have any tricks.
