2000 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 V8
85,000 miles, no problems with my truck. Basically all stock. However, for about 3 weeks now, my truck will not start on the first time, it starts on the 2nd or 3rd time, every time. It always starts, just always on the 2nd or 3rd time. I had a mechanic look at it, he replaced the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, however it didn't work so he took it off and didn't charge me. He said he didn't know what it was. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance. [email protected] |

Hi
My 97 5.7 did the exact same thing just before the fuel pump failed totally. Get a pressure gauge on it and check the pressure after you turn on the key the first time but not try to start it. The pump is supposed to run about 3 seconds to pressurize the injectors. I'm not sure what pressure the 2000 should have since it is a different motor, but mine is supposed to have 60 lbs. Bob B |
